SF Artist Jean Mullen Signed Print

Jean Mullen’s primary home is in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA., and attended the California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, CA. In 1991 she was the recipient of the KALA Institute Printmaking Fellowship in Berkeley, CA. Known for her simple, large architectural forms and elegant use of color juxtaposition, Mullen utilizes multiple layers of dry pastel to create images of barns, sheds, and buildings that resonate with a sense of time and place. With a quiet strength in their solidarity and stature, it is the light and shadow, perspective of form and place in horizon, and architectural purpose of these structures that become of foremost importance. Pure color pigments the picture plane, rendered with the utmost technical skill, the result is a beautifully minimal and thought provoking body of work.
